Despite mixed reactions to the announcement of the Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster, PlayStation remains confident in the future of the Horizon franchise.

As part of its strategy to develop more live-service games, Sony is working on a multiplayer title called 'Horizon Online' from Guerrilla Games.

Notably, Jason Schreier, a video games reporter at Bloomberg, confirmed that 'Horizon Online' is not a sequel to 'Horizon Forbidden West' and is slated for release after Horizon 3.

Schreier also expressed surprise that the Horizon multiplayer game has not been canceled, especially in light of the failure of other live-service projects like Concord.

Leaked images and clips suggest that characters in 'Horizon Online' will feature a Fortnite-inspired art style, indicating a shift in visual direction for the franchise.

Fans eager for the conclusion of Aloy's story will have to be patient, as Horizon 3 is still in development and may not be released until after 2027.

The timeline for the release of 'Horizon Forbidden West' five years after the original suggests that a similar gap could apply to Horizon 3's development.

In the meantime, Guerrilla Games has two upcoming projects: 'Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered' is set to launch on October 31, 2024, followed by 'LEGO Horizon Adventures' on November 14, 2024.
