The Federal Police will continue to lead operations, with the military providing supportive deployments at designated sites.

Already providing support to Doel and Tihange since July 1, the cooperation will expand to include the SCK CEN in Mol, the Joint Research Center in Geel, and Belgoprocess in Dessel.

The Belgian military will begin deployments on December 1 to broaden protection at additional nuclear sites in support of police protection efforts.

A protocol signed by Defense Minister and Interior Minister in June assigns military support under the Federal Police, with police leading operations to free up officers for other tasks.

The arrangement is designed to free up police for alternative duties while maintaining security at critical nuclear-related facilities.

Starting in April 2026, military personnel will also assist in security operations for the National Radio Elements Institute in Fleurus.
