Major Anti-Crime Operation Near Brussels Nets Drug Traffickers, Speeding Offenders, and International Fugitive

A joint operation resulted in arrests of three individuals tied to drug trafficking and one person with an outstanding international prison sentence, while traffic violations ranged from driving without a license and driving under the influence to unfit vehicle inspections and lack of insurance.
In total, 614 vehicles were checked, 41 criminal offenses and 55 traffic offenses were recorded, and four people were placed in judicial detention, including three for drug trafficking and one individual wanted for a prison term abroad.
The large-scale operation took place in the Hal-Vilvorde arrondissement near Brussels, involving nine local police zones and federal services, including the Foreigners Service, Flemish Tax Administration, and coordination teams, conducted on Friday evening across multiple sites.
Speed checks using mobile radar units logged 1,678 speeding violations within the monitored area.
Authorities seized five gas canisters, over 100 grams of cannabis, 16.4 grams of cocaine, five vehicles, a unicycle, a mobile phone, and about 2,800 euros in cash.
The operation aligned with broader, similar efforts in neighboring Brussels and Brabant Wallon, reflecting ongoing collaboration between local and federal police to curb crime and traffic violations.
