New Ethereum Advocacy Alliance Seeks to Shift Crypto Policy Power Dynamics
November 6, 2025
The Ethereum Protocol Advocacy Alliance (EPAA) is formed to coordinate policy efforts and educate lawmakers about Ethereum's ecosystem, aiming to counter the influence of centralized crypto entities in policymaking.
As context, the prior election cycle saw Fairshake, a major crypto PAC backed by a16z, Coinbase, and Ripple, raise roughly $260 million and spend about $195.8 million on lobbying.
Prominent DeFi groups such as Aave Labs, Aragon, Curve, Lido Labs Foundation, Spark Foundation, The Graph Foundation, and the Uniswap Foundation have joined the EPAA, collectively overseeing more than $100 billion in assets through open, non-custodial protocols.
The Ethereum Foundation endorsed the alliance, with co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak supporting community-led advocacy and coordination.
Recent ecosystem moves include revamping the Ethereum Foundation grants program to be more selective and launching institutions.ethereum.org to onboard institutions, signaling broader efforts in communication, branding, coordination, development, and onboarding.
With backing and resources from the EPAA, industry momentum is building to influence policy through well-funded advocacy aligned with on-chain solutions and regulatory clarity.
The EPAA outlines four engagement channels with policymakers: contributing technical expertise, producing practical explanatory materials, coordinating strategic policy engagement, and identifying areas of shared technical interest.
