Western military and intelligence officials warn that Moscow might attack a NATO country within three to five years if the Ukraine conflict ends or escalates.

In response to ongoing tensions, EU defense spending is projected to hit a record 381 billion euros ($443 billion) in 2025, with nearly 130 billion euros allocated to investments like new weaponry.

The European Defence Agency reports that a significant portion of this budget, around 130 billion euros, is dedicated to modernizing military capabilities.

Additionally, the European Commission announced the full subscription of the €150 billion Security Action for Europe (SAFE) loan scheme, with 19 of 27 member states applying for funding to support security initiatives, backed by the EU budget.
