Tecno Unveils World's First G-Shaped Trifold Smartphone to Rival Samsung
July 17, 2025
Tecno has announced the Phantom Ultimate G Fold, the world's first G-shaped trifold smartphone, on July 17, 2025, aiming to outpace Samsung's upcoming Galaxy G Fold reveal.
The device features a custom dual-hinge system with a waterdrop hinge and a larger primary hinge, enabling a gapless fold and a multi-angle hovering mode for versatile use.
Durability has been a priority for Tecno, which uses ultra-high-strength steel for the hinge and Titan Fiber for the back cover, only 0.3 mm thick.
Although full specifications are not yet disclosed, Tecno promises a flagship experience with a 5,000 mAh battery, a high-performance chip, and a versatile triple-camera system.
The Phantom Ultimate G Fold includes an external screen and measures just 11.49 mm when folded and 3.49 mm when fully unfolded, making it thinner than both the Honor Magic V5 and Galaxy Z Fold 7.
It features a dual-screen, inward-folding design with a 9.94-inch display that folds inward twice, ensuring the entire screen is protected when closed.
Currently a concept device, the Phantom Ultimate G Fold will not be available for retail but is set to be showcased at MWC 2026 in Barcelona.
