Despite the recent failure of its multiplayer title Concord, Sony's internal feedback on its upcoming live-service game Fairgames is reportedly very optimistic.

Fairgames, developed by Haven Studios and led by Assassin's Creed veteran Jade Raymond, is a competitive heist game that aims to stand out in a less saturated genre.

This strategic shift may improve Fairgames' chances of success compared to Concord.

The game was announced at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, featuring a CGI trailer that drew comparisons to popular titles like Watchdogs and Payday.

While Fairgames is set to release on PS5 and PC, a specific release date has yet to be provided.

Following the shutdown of Concord, which led to a drastic response from players, Sony remains committed to its live-service strategy, with other titles in development.

Among these projects is Marathon, created by Destiny 2 developer Bungie, indicating a broader investment in live-service games.

Industry reporter Christopher Dring noted that internal feedback about Fairgames has been positive, despite some skepticism surrounding its trailer.

Concerns about Sony's confidence in its live-service projects have been alleviated by strong internal support for Fairgames.

At one point, Sony had 12 live-service games in development, though the future of these projects is uncertain following Concord's failure.

Haven Studios, which has been acquired by Sony, is expected to leverage lessons learned from the release of Concord to enhance Fairgames.

The heist shooter genre has relatively little competition, potentially giving Fairgames a commercial advantage over its predecessor.
