Thailand will host the IMF-World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok in 2026, marking its second time hosting since 1991 and underscoring the country’s role as a regional hub.

Preparations are led by the Thailand Planning Team, with involvement from the Ministry of Finance and Bank of Thailand, including landmark events at Benjakitti Park and ongoing coordination with the IMF and World Bank, plus a university and volunteer program.

Public engagement and soft power are emphasized, inviting civil society, media, and the general public to participate to position Thailand as a global destination and center for sustainable development and innovation.

The official theme, Thailand's New Horizons: Empowering People, Building Resilience, centers on people-focused development and strengthening economic resilience amid future risks.

Dubbed the ‘Olympics of Finance,’ the AM2026 gathering will draw more than 15,000 participants from 191 countries and showcase Thailand’s infrastructure, transportation, and a premier venue (Queen Sirikit National Convention Center).

Pre-events and milestones include the IMF-World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.; the International Public Procurement Conference 2026; the World Bank Thailand Young Economist Contest 2026; and a 30-day countdown launch with a press conference and the release of a Thailand Travel Guide.

The countdown and related activities will also spotlight cultural diplomacy, tourism development, and inclusive digital finance as priority areas.
