Lila Raicek's Debut Novel 'The Plunge' Explores Love, Loss, and Reinvention Across Manhattan and Beyond
April 12, 2026
Lila Raicek has released her debut novel, The Plunge, marking a shift from her established work in stage and screen to long-form fiction.
The Plunge follows Liv, a Hollywood writer who returns to Manhattan after her fiancé is fired and dies before their wedding, pulling her into a complex love triangle across Manhattan, the Hamptons, and Lake Como.
Raicek’s background includes the West End hit My Master Builder, 13 weeks of sold-out performances, the TV adaptation Vertebrae into Night Float starring Nina Dobrev, and development of a Broadway play Fire Season attracting interest from Billy Crudup and Amanda Seyfried.
The novel, begun in 2021, draws on Raicek’s personal experience ending her engagement amid sexual harassment revelations and centers on themes of loss, reinvention, and navigating darkness.
Raicek plans to adapt The Plunge for film, while continuing to develop other projects across stage and screen, with details kept confidential for now.
She says writing a novel allowed a deeper, singular perspective and internal realization that’s harder to achieve in plays or screenwriting.
