Peloton Recalls 800,000+ Bike+ Models Over Seat Post Breaks; New Lineup Unaffected
November 6, 2025
Peloton issued a voluntary recall of certain Peloton Original Series Bike+ models (PL02) manufactured between late 2019 and mid-2022 after three reports of seat posts breaking, affecting roughly 833,000 bikes in the U.S. and about 44,800 in Canada.
Owners should stop using the Bike+ immediately and contact Peloton for a free replacement seat post, which buyers can install themselves.
Affected units carry serial numbers starting with the letter “T.”
Peloton’s stock has dropped notably this year as part of broader turnaround efforts.
In August, Peloton announced a 6% global workforce reduction and warned tariffs could reduce 2026 free cash flow by about $65 million.

The recall comes ahead of Peloton’s earnings announcement, following hardware refreshes and AI coaching feature initiatives.
The recall excludes newer Cross Training Series and Bike+ models, with Peloton expecting about $16.5 million in recall costs.
The recall was announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission on November 6, 2025.
Newer Cross-Training Bike Plus is not affected; updated seat post is part of this newer line.
Other initiatives include Breathwrk app acquisition, expansion with 10 U.S. micro-stores, a Johnson Fitness partnership, the Peloton Pro Series for commercial use, and the Club Peloton loyalty program with half a million members.
Peloton IQ delivers goal-based coaching, progress insights, and real-time feedback aligned to users’ fitness levels.
Peloton has faced CEO changes, mass layoffs, and growth revival efforts after post-pandemic sales declines, with stock down significantly since early 2021.
Canada’s 44,800 units appear unaffected by the recall, with no seat post breakage reports there.
The Cross Training Series comprises five connected devices—Cross Training Bike, Bike+, Tread, Tread+, and Row+—all with Swivel Screen for seamless transitions.
The newer Bike Plus Cross Training series, launched in October, is not part of this recall.
The recall covers units sold from January 2020 through April 2025, with three complaints including two injuries reported to the CPSC.
All new Peloton products include a swivel screen, while the Plus line adds an advanced computer vision camera and Peloton IQ for personalized coaching.
CEO Peter Stern says the strategic focus is on helping members reach wellness goals through Peloton’s ecosystem of products and experiences.
Peloton has been cutting costs and reducing headcount as part of a turnaround, while raising prices to offset higher tariff-related expenses.
On October 1, Peloton unveiled a new line-up—the Cross Train Series bike, a treadmill, a rowing machine, and the AI-assisted Peloton IQ personal trainer—as part of a shift toward holistic health and premium products.
The refreshed lineup includes Cross Training versions with AI-powered form-check cameras and higher prices for machines and subscriptions.
Peloton launched Cross Training Series and Peloton IQ to provide personalized coaching and performance tracking under the new leadership.
Peloton issued an updated attribution of its statement on November 6.
The company reiterates a commitment to product integrity, safety, and ongoing quality improvements.
