Shenzhen Dobot's humanoid robot, named Dobot Atom, recently demonstrated its advanced capabilities by successfully cooking a steak while being operated remotely from 1,800 kilometers away using a virtual reality (VR) headset.

This remarkable feat took place in Shandong, while the engineer controlling the robot was situated in Guangdong, highlighting the potential for remote cooking and various other applications.

Launched in March 2025, the Dobot Atom is designed to automate tasks traditionally performed by humans, showcasing innovative technology that could revolutionize multiple fields.

According to the South China Morning Post, this technology is expected to impact areas such as household chores, medical surgeries, nuclear inspections, and even space exploration.

The Dobot Atom features a precision of 0.05 millimeters for its hand movements and is currently capable of controlling only its upper body, with a price tag of approximately $27,500.

Equipped with five-fingered hands, the robot can prepare breakfast items like toast and milk, and it walks upright, mimicking human movements.

A four-minute video demonstration shared on the company's official WeChat account showcased the robot's ability to perform delicate cooking tasks, such as dabbing the steak with a paper towel, pouring oil, flipping the meat, and sprinkling salt.
