Ericsson Boosts 5G and 6G Innovation with New R&D Center in Bengaluru

Ericsson opened a new Radio Access Network Software R&D unit in Bengaluru to advance 5G, 6G, and AI technologies from a local center of excellence in India.
Nitin Bansal, Managing Director of Ericsson India, said the move strengthens the company’s R&D footprint in India and boosts the overall telecom ecosystem.
Ericsson already collaborates with Indian institutions and industry partners, including Volvo for XR and Digital Twin work at Bengaluru, IIT Madras on AI for 6G and Responsible AI, and partnerships with the Indian Statistical Institute and IIT Kharagpur on cyber-physical systems, AI-driven networks, secure communications, and edge computing.
Bengaluru is highlighted as a talent hub with skilled software engineers, making it a strategic location for Ericsson.
The expansion supports Ericsson’s broader aim to help India become a global digital innovation hub.
