Two NWSL expansion teams, Boston Legacy FC and Denver Summit FC, will debut in 2026, with their first home matches set for March at large, iconic venues: Legacy at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and Summit at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.

Boston is renovating White Stadium in Franklin Park, aiming to seat over 10,000 and make Boston Public Schools the primary day-to-day tenant, though the project faced local opposition and past delays.

Denver has generated strong early interest, with more than 15,000 season-ticket deposits reportedly sold for 2026.

Beyond the clubs themselves, coverage notes sponsorships, investor group involvement, and a Brockton complex plan, signaling ongoing local development and interest around the teams.

Both clubs vow to deliver a best-in-class fan experience by choosing high-profile venues and rallying community support, with quotes from leadership and local partners underscoring venue importance.

There will be no traditional expansion draft for Legacy FC due to the current CBA, requiring Legacy to assemble its full squad through signings.

An additional $1,065,000 in allocation money is available to both expansion teams to help build complete rosters.

Opponent teams for the opening matches had not been announced at the time of the announcement.

Tickets for both clubs’ home openers are on sale, with Boston starting sales earlier and Summit following a later window.

Summit President Jen Millet called the kickoff moment unforgettable and highlighted hosting The Kickoff as a milestone for the club, city, and fans.

Roster signings ahead of 2026 include notable players for both sides, with Denver adding Ally Watt, Nahikari Garcia, and Lourdes Bosch, and Boston Legacy signing Barbara Olivieri, Laurel Ansbrow, Aleigh Gambone, Aïssata Traoré, Emerson Elgin, and Alba Cañ o.

Boston Legacy FC has begun roster construction, with nine players signed toward reaching the league’s minimum squad size for an opener.
