The TV anime adaptation of LIAR GAME, based on Shinobu Kaitani’s psychological thriller manga, is set to premiere in early April 2026, with the first episode likely airing on a Monday and a two-cour broadcast running through the season.

The cast includes Takeo Otsuka as Shinichi Akiyama and Saya Hitomi as Nao Kanzaki, among other confirmed voice actors.

Episode 1 centers on the qualifier game featuring Nao Kanzaki and Kazuo Fujisawa, introducing Shinichi Akiyama and following the manga’s arc of deception and aid.

Shinobu Kaitani created the LIAR GAME manga, which ran in Weekly Young Jump and serves as the basis for this adaptation.

This marks LIAR GAME’s first television anime adaptation, following prior live-action formats such as a 2007 drama, a 2010 film, and a 2023 stage play.

Studio Madhouse is handling the adaptation, with Kei Tsuchiya designing characters, Yugo Kanno composing the music, and Bit Grooove Promotion managing sound production.

The series is planned as two consecutive cours, ensuring a continuous broadcast window from spring toward the fall of 2026.

The production team hints at a likely 12-episode first season, following typical seasonal formats, though an official count hasn’t been confirmed.

Crunchyroll released an official trailer that introduces the main cast and outlines the game rules, signaling a fast plunge into LIAR GAME’s mechanics from the outset.

The LIAR GAME manga originally ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2005 to 2015, spanning 19 volumes, and has inspired multiple live-action adaptations in Japan and Korea.

Crunchyroll will stream the series globally as it airs, with Japan and China excluded from the current streaming announcement.

MADHOUSE’s involvement is highlighted, aligning the project with the studio’s pedigree of high-concept series.
