Google Launches Search Profiles for Major Creators, Enhancing Discover Feeds and Knowledge Panels
June 4, 2026
Google is rolling out dedicated Search profiles for major creators and publishers in the United States to spotlight their videos, articles, and other online profiles, and may trigger Knowledge Panels for eligible publishers with updated avatars, latest content, and a direct profile link.
Claiming a Search profile can lead to the creation or enhancement of Knowledge Panels, and follow signals from these profiles will boost a publisher’s content in users’ Discover feeds.
Access to these profiles requires meeting high minimum follower thresholds across platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, or X) and being at least 18 years old, with eligibility at launch centered on sizable audiences.
To participate, users must meet minimum platform follower counts—100,000 on YouTube, 100,000 on Instagram or X, or 300,000 on TikTok—and be 18+, with separate verification for access and ongoing compliance.
The rollout arrives as concerns grow that AI-generated summaries in search results have reduced referral traffic, highlighting a broader shift in how Google balances AI features with traditional links.
Multi-brand publishers may maintain multiple profiles, but each must use a separate Google Account, with no multi-user admin access or profile transfers currently planned (though transfers could come later).
AI-generated bios may appear in Knowledge Panels, distinct from Google's AI Overviews that respond to specific queries.
The feature launches in the US first, with plans to expand to more accounts and markets, emphasizing mobile Discover exposure and testing for potential desktop rollout.
Claiming a profile involves signing into the associated Google Account, potentially verifying across up to three linked platforms, and using profile.google.com/claim when standalone; the handle defaults to the most-followed linked platform.
Profile management separates suggestion fields (name, bio) requiring Google approval from immediately applied fields (like content platform order), and content from linked accounts typically syncs within 24 to 48 hours.
Insights (beta) provide performance data powered by Search Console, showing top content, clicks, impressions, and audience reach by country to the claiming account holder.
Publishers can pin up to eight posts or videos from the past year and add up to eight web links; content from linked accounts is auto-aggregated and direct uploads are not supported.
