It is the largest free show of its kind in the United States, drawing millions of spectators annually for aviation and waterfront performances.

The 2026 Chicago Air and Water Show will feature a dynamic lineup of military and civilian aircraft performing high-speed demos, precision formations, and gravity-defying maneuvers, complemented by water-based performances on Lake Michigan.

Shows run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, with viewing along the lakefront from Fullerton Avenue to Oak Street; North Avenue Beach serves as the primary viewing location.

Admission is free, making this a major summer attraction for families, visitors, and aviation enthusiasts.

The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, August 15–16, 2026, with a full rehearsal on Friday, August 14, and is presented by the City of Chicago.

Spectators can watch from the beach, lakefront trail, or aboard boats, with the Chicago skyline providing a dramatic backdrop.
