Georgia four-star quarterback Colton Nussmeier is transferring from Denton Ryan in Texas to Archbishop Rummel High in Metairie, Louisiana for his senior year, and will be eligible to play this fall.

Scouting notes describe him as a tall, left-handed passer with a big arm, solid mechanics, strong field diagnosis, and play-action proficiency, while highlighting limited dual-threat ability and room to improve quick-game efficiency.

He has produced eye-catching numbers, with over 3,300 passing yards across the last two seasons, plus a high passing efficiency and a single-interception season; last year before a knee injury he posted 1,390 yards and 12 touchdowns with one pick, and added three rushing touchdowns.

Throughout recruitment, Nussmeier publicly connected with Georgia, noting ties between Kirby Smart and his family from Alabama coaching days.

He is the younger brother of former LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and the son of New Orleans Saints assistant coach Doug Nussmeier.

The No. 12 quarterback in the nation and a 2027 commit to Georgia, Nussmeier is moving to Archbishop Rummel to finish his high school career and will suit up for the Raiders this season.

Texas ruled him ineligible, and appeals were denied; the family cited personal reasons and a preference for a smaller-school environment as factors in the relocation.

Archbishop Rummel is located under 10 miles from New Orleans, which could impact exposure and recruitment opportunities for Nussmeier.

During his injury-shortened stint at Marcus, Nussmeier completed about 60% of his passes for 1,390 yards and 12 touchdowns with one interception, including three rushing scores.

Rummel head coach Nick Monica welcomed the addition, noting the senior class will need to integrate him, with Nate Singleton expected to start but competing for time.

At 6'3.5" and 195 pounds, he is ranked as the 12th-best quarterback in the 2027 class by 247Sports, reinforcing Louisiana’s strong QB presence.
