Sonova Launches Phonak EON: AI-Powered Hearing Aid Revolutionizing Speech Clarity and User Comfort
August 24, 2026
Sonova unveiled its third AI-powered hearing-aid platform, Phonak EON, designed to enhance real-time speech recognition and reduce listening effort.
The dual-AI efficiency enables a smaller, lighter device that can run up to 38 hours on a charge, with EON being 25% smaller and 20% lighter than the Sphere generation.
EON combines Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0, which uses a deep neural network to separate speech from background noise, with AutoSense OS AI 8.0, which classifies environments and automatically adjusts features.
Licensing and orders begin in the US for licensed hearing care professionals, with Germany, France, the UK, Australia, and others following in September; pricing will be determined by reimbursement systems and clinician fitting.
CEO Eric Bernard emphasized Asia-Pacific and Latin America as key growth regions, aiming to expand volumes in faster-growing, aging-population markets.
Executives project rapid adoption of EON among replacement and new customers, positioning the platform premium at launch.
For context, 2025/26 results showed CHF 3.6 billion in sales and CHF 546 million in net profit, suggesting a net margin around 15%; EON is expected to support continued organic growth and possibly higher earnings per share.
Market reaction on launch day showed Sonova shares near 260 EUR with a small intraday dip, but an overall gain of more than 18% since early July 2026, signaling optimism already priced in.
The company expects rapid adoption of EON among replacement users and new customers, with a premium-market positioning at launch.
Oliver Lux, president for EMEA and Latin America, anticipates quick uptake and notes that pricing details were not disclosed, though the platform is built for premium positioning.
EON is positioned as a key driver toward Sonova’s medium-term growth targets, addressing prior investor skepticism.
Analysts expect continued organic growth in hearing solutions, with EON expanding the receiver-in-canal form factor and targeting higher replacement rates and market share through real-world listening improvements.
