JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER) in Mysuru has partnered with Google Research to advance artificial intelligence (AI) research in healthcare, with significant findings published in the journal Nature.

The research centers around the Articulate Medical Intelligence Explorer (AMIE), an AI system developed by Google aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy and enhancing interactions between patients and physicians.

Led by Vikram Patil, the study evaluated AMIE's performance against trained primary care physicians during text-based consultations across healthcare settings in Canada, the UK, and India.

JSS AHER played a crucial role by designing simulation scenarios that reflect the complexities of Indian healthcare environments.

The collaboration has resulted in the publication of two papers in Nature, showcasing the innovative research findings.

Vice-chancellor Dr. H. Basavanagowdappa stated that these achievements reinforce JSS AHER's leadership in AI-driven healthcare solutions and provide students with unique opportunities to address real-world challenges.

Pro-chancellor Dr. B. Suresh emphasized the institution's commitment to integrating AI into healthcare and academic practices, including updates to the pharmacy curriculum to incorporate AI education.
