The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has initiated the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) pilot program.

The program aims to democratize access to AI resources and support responsible AI innovation in different fields including healthcare, environmental science, and infrastructure sustainability.

Tech giants like Google, Nvidia, OpenAI, and Amazon pledged their support by providing tools, hardware, and datasets to researchers.

The two-year program will focus on four key areas: NAIRR Open, NAIRR Secure, NAIRR Software, and NAIRR Classroom.

Researchers can apply for access to the resources through the NSF, and a call for proposals will be released in spring 2024 to engage more researchers.

The initiative aligns with President Biden's vision for responsible AI and aims to strengthen America's global position in AI research and development.
