Pineboards has launched the Ai Bundle, an expansion board for the Raspberry Pi 5, featuring the powerful Hailo 8L AI accelerator capable of performing AI tasks at up to 13 TOPS.

Announced on August 1, 2024, the Ai Bundle is designed to enhance AI application performance while supporting an M.2 NVMe SSD for faster storage solutions.

This bundle not only provides a robust AI accelerator but also supports bootable PCIe Gen 2 NVMe storage, eliminating reliance on microSD cards or USB devices.

The inclusion of an additional M.2 socket allows for bootable NVMe storage, offering significantly faster speeds and larger capacities compared to traditional microSD cards.

The Ai Bundle features both an M.2 2280 M-Key NVMe connection and an M.2 2230 A/E-Key connection, ensuring compatibility with various storage devices.

Managed by the ASM1182e PCIe switch, the second M.2 socket enhances connectivity by allowing multiple PCIe devices to be connected simultaneously.

To maintain optimal operating temperatures, the Ai Bundle includes a pre-installed thermal pad and features a bottom-mounted design for improved cooling.

Measuring approximately 90 x 55 mm, the bundle comes with essential accessories, including a PCIe FPC cable, all-metal screws, and spacers for secure installation.

Users familiar with the Raspberry Pi AI Kit will find the software stack unchanged, allowing for a seamless transition without the need to alter existing setups.

Available for purchase at an MSRP of 90 euros (approximately $97.47), the Ai Bundle can be found on Pineboards' website and through various distributors across Europe and South Korea.

The Hailo-8L AI accelerator included in the bundle is the same neural processing unit used in the official Raspberry Pi 5 AI Kit, ensuring compatibility with existing AI software.
