June 19, 2025
Budget priorities reflect this shift, as 64% of IT leaders have identified generative AI as their top spending priority for 2025, surpassing security and compute.
The study, which surveyed 415 senior IT decision-makers across various industries, emphasizes the need for a structured approach and strategic leadership in AI adoption.
According to Satinder Pal Singh, head of solution architecture for AWS India, there is a growing recognition of generative AI as a transformative technology that requires high-level strategic leadership.
Partnerships are deemed crucial for AI deployment, with 45% of organizations planning to use a mix of in-house and third-party vendors, contrasting with only 15% relying solely on external vendors.
The findings are part of the 'Generative AI Adoption Index', which highlights the significant changes in organizational leadership roles necessary for the full-scale implementation of generative AI.
Despite the hurdles many organizations face, including understanding employee needs and budget constraints, the demand for generative AI talent is set to rise significantly.
A recent study by Amazon Web Services (AWS) reveals that 83% of organizations in India have appointed Chief AI Officers (CAIOs) to expedite generative AI adoption, with an additional 15% planning to do so by 2026.
This trend reflects a significant shift in leadership structures, moving from traditional roles like CEOs and CTOs to dedicated AI executives who can manage the complexities of AI implementation.
As organizations strive to fill the generative AI talent gap, 81% have developed training plans, while 99% anticipate hiring for roles requiring these skills in 2025.
However, 75% of organizations currently lack a change management strategy to help employees adapt to generative AI, although this figure is expected to drop to 9% by the end of 2026.
Despite these challenges, 43% of organizations have fully integrated generative AI into their workflows, with 98% using Gen AI tools and 49% of experimental applications expected to transition to production by 2025.
Organizations are also focusing on customization, with 62% planning to deploy applications using out-of-the-box models and 71% utilizing fine-tuned models with proprietary data.
