CAS SciFinder Unveils AI-Powered Features to Revolutionize Scientific Research and Innovation
August 4, 2025
CAS, a division of the American Chemical Society, has launched an enhanced version of CAS SciFinder, integrating advanced AI capabilities to improve research and development (R&D) efficiency and foster innovation.
This launch represents the most significant application of AI in CAS's offerings, aimed at providing scientists with faster and more reliable access to scientific information.
Manuel Guzman, President of CAS, highlighted the importance of evolving solutions with technology to meet the changing needs of scientists and accelerate the pace of scientific discovery.
To enhance visibility in the intellectual property (IP) landscape, the platform has added new IP search support and visualization tools, allowing users to identify relevant patents and prior art more effectively.
The platform also incorporates AI to improve the accuracy of reaction query interpretations, offering precise information from a large collection of curated reaction data.
New AI features, branded as SearchSense, allow users to conduct searches using natural language, making scientific information more accessible and enabling quicker access to actionable answers.
CAS SciFinder now includes an innovative interactive synthetic planning tool that drastically reduces the time needed for chemists to generate synthetic plans from minutes to seconds.
A survey of beta testers revealed that 93% found the new AI-driven search capabilities enhanced their efficiency in research tasks, personalizing results based on user activity.
The new features will be rolled out to users in phases over the next two months, as detailed on the CAS SciFinder preview site.
CAS is committed to continuously advancing its solutions with the latest technologies to support scientists globally in accelerating the pace of scientific discovery.
