The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada, announced over $1.3 million in funding to support AI innovation for three businesses in Saskatchewan.

This funding is part of the Government of Canada's broader commitment of $2.4 billion in Budget 2024 to strengthen the AI sector and promote responsible development and adoption of AI technologies.

These investments aim to help small- and medium-sized enterprises leverage AI for innovation and economic growth in Canada.

The funding is designed to accelerate AI adoption and the digital transition of Canada's economy, which is essential for enhancing productivity and innovation.

The announcement underscores the importance of AI in driving sustainable economic growth and enhancing competitiveness across various sectors, including agriculture and clean technology.

Olszewski emphasized that adopting advanced technologies like AI can create jobs and position Canada for long-term success in sectors such as agriculture, defense, and critical minerals.

The projects funded are expected to create 50 jobs and generate $30.5 million in revenue growth, including $5.6 million in exports.

Ground Truth Agriculture Inc. will receive $586,900 to complete and commercialize an AI-driven grain grading system, which will improve grain quality assessment and decision-making in the supply chain.

Offstreet Technology Inc. is set to receive $300,000 to enhance its cloud-based guest registration parking technology, allowing for market expansion in North America.

Greenwave Innovations Inc. will be awarded $425,000 to enhance its energy monitoring platform for commercial buildings, utilizing AI to optimize maintenance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Buckley Belanger, Secretary of State for Rural Development, noted that supporting local businesses in adopting AI is essential for community development and job creation.

Kyle Folk, CEO of Ground Truth Agriculture, expressed that the funding will significantly improve grain quality data consistency, which is crucial for supply chain decision-making.
