Canada Invests $1.3M in AI Innovation for Saskatchewan Businesses to Boost Economic Growth

The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski, Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada, announced over $1.3 million in funding to support AI innovation for three businesses in Saskatchewan.
This funding is part of the Government of Canada's broader commitment of $2.4 billion in Budget 2024 to strengthen the AI sector and promote responsible development and adoption of AI technologies.
These investments aim to help small- and medium-sized enterprises leverage AI for innovation and economic growth in Canada.

Ground Truth Agriculture Inc. will receive $586,900 to complete and commercialize an AI-driven grain grading system, which will improve grain quality assessment and decision-making in the supply chain.
Offstreet Technology Inc. is set to receive $300,000 to enhance its cloud-based guest registration parking technology, allowing for market expansion in North America.
Greenwave Innovations Inc. will be awarded $425,000 to enhance its energy monitoring platform for commercial buildings, utilizing AI to optimize maintenance and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Buckley Belanger, Secretary of State for Rural Development, noted that supporting local businesses in adopting AI is essential for community development and job creation.
Kyle Folk, CEO of Ground Truth Agriculture, expressed that the funding will significantly improve grain quality data consistency, which is crucial for supply chain decision-making.
