Teens Sentenced for AI-Created Nude Images, Sparking Calls for Policy Reform and School Accountability
March 25, 2026
Two 16-year-olds in Lancaster County were sentenced after using artificial intelligence to create nude images of female classmates and others, totaling 59 felony counts for manufacturing images of 48 female students at Lancaster Country Day School and about a dozen additional acquaintances.
Authorities said the teens generated about 350 images of at least 59 girls by morphing school photos, yearbooks, and content from Instagram, TikTok, and FaceTime during 2023 and 2024.
The case included 59 nude images of teenage girls and one of an 18-year-old woman, plus 13 images of traditional child pornography found on one boy’s cellphone.
Advocates pressed for policy reform, education, and awareness to prevent future cases, emphasizing mandatory reporting and clearer school and professional obligations to act on suspected abuse.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Janie Swinehart, who read victim impact statements during the hearing.
Victims and families attended the hearing and spoke about anxiety, depression, and devastation caused by the conduct.
They described lasting trauma including anxiety, PTSD, depression, academic decline, and ongoing fear of exposure or future harm from the images.
Court testimony and statements depicted significant mental distress among victims, with ongoing concerns about future appearances of the images.
The disposition drew on juvenile probation recommendations and family circumstances to determine the outcome.
Because the cases are in juvenile court, the identities of the boys are not public, though the disposition hearing and records are open due to potential adult-level felony charges.
The incident prompted scrutiny of school response, including a lapse where Safe2Say tips were not acted on, leading to civil suits by parents against the school.
The attorney general framed the case as the dark side of modern technology and the weaponization of digital tools against minors.
