BHASHINI Rajyam: Revolutionizing Ayush with Multilingual AI for Inclusive Healthcare Across India
May 14, 2026
A collaboration titled BHASHINI Rajyam – A BHASHINI Sahayogi Program aims to weave BHASHINI across Ayush Grid portals, apps, and AI-enabled services to reach users in all 22 scheduled Indian languages.
Discussions include using the NAMASTE Portal to standardize Ayush terminologies, support glossary-building, and pave the way for multilingual AI models in healthcare.
Ayush Grid portals, such as the Yoga Portal and MAISP, have piloted BHASHINI tools, with other platforms slated for onboarding to the initiative.
An MoU was signed between the Ministry of Ayush and the Digital India BHASHINI Division to enhance multilingual transcription and translation of Ayush knowledge into multiple Indian languages using AI-powered language technology.
Key participants included Dr. Subodh Kumar, Shri Amitabh Nag, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, and Dr. Kavita Jain, who attended the signing and discussions.
Ayush Secretary welcomed the initiative, stating it will enable faster and more efficient translation, helping Ayush systems reach people in every language and region of India.
Demonstrations showcased an AI-powered doctor-patient prescription generator, real-time transcription and Minutes of Meeting via Shrutlekh, and voice-based CV-building tools, alongside AI-enabled digitisation of ancient manuscripts.
These demonstrations illustrate how multilingual digital public services can be expanded through AI tools for healthcare and heritage preservation.
Officials emphasized that language-inclusive AI is essential for equitable access to digital public services and for building voice-enabled, multilingual healthcare within India’s Digital Public Infrastructure.
The broader message is that multilingual AI can elevate grassroots healthcare access and citizen-centric public services.
Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha underscored delivering Ayush knowledge in every Indian language as vital for inclusive healthcare, and announced plans for domain-specific terminology systems and AI tools across Ayush.
Overall, the collaboration reflects a broader strategy to fuse AI, digital platforms, and language technologies to enhance public health services and preserve traditional knowledge for future generations, while extending digital outreach nationwide.
