Chandigarh University & Intel Launch IndiaAI Data Lab to Boost AI Skills and Cybersecurity Research
June 2, 2026
Chandigarh University, in collaboration with Intel India, today inaugurated the IndiaAI Data Lab to boost student employability in AI, data science, and emerging technologies.
The lab offers a simulated apprenticeship platform with hands-on projects, hackathons, and industry-academia collaboration for computing and computer science engineering students.
Senior leaders from Intel Asia Pacific and Japan say the program will give students practical experience with AI PCs and bridge gaps between academia and industry needs.
A workshop brought together academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students to discuss secure machine-to-machine communication, intelligent systems, and next-generation network security, aiming to expand cybersecurity and digital systems capacity.
Key outcomes include greater exposure for students to IoT security and secure networks, aligned with national initiatives, opening opportunities in research, industry, and government.
IIT Guwahati serves as a hub under ISEA while Chandigarh University broadens access to advanced knowledge and opportunities for a wider student and faculty base, supporting national cybersecurity objectives.
The lab aims to strengthen indigenous cybersecurity research and provide a collaborative platform for training and capacity building across internet technologies, DNS, IoT, quantum-safe DNS, and edge computing.
The collaboration is expected to drive industry-academia engagement through workshops, hackathons, faculty development programs, and joint research projects in line with national cybersecurity priorities.
India faces high cyberattack targets, with NCRP data showing substantial cybercrime complaints and losses, underscoring the need for robust cybersecurity resources and skilled manpower.
CU and IIT Guwahati are collaborating under MeitY's ISEA program, including the ISEA-SIEEC 2026 workshop on Secure and Intelligent IoT, Edge-Cloud Intelligence, and 6G networks, held at Chandigarh University in early February.
A panel on Secure Systems Engineering through Atmanirbhar Bharat emphasized indigenous research and trusted digital infrastructure to align academia, industry, and national policy initiatives.
