Naver Unveils AI Tab: Revolutionizing Search with Integrated Ecosystem and Seamless User Experience
June 28, 2026
Analysts say AI Tab could enable seamless conversational commerce from search to payment, potentially boosting advertising efficiency through integrated shopping experiences.
AI Tab emphasizes tight integration with Naver’s ecosystem—shopping, Places, maps, reservations, blogs, cafes, reviews—to keep users within Naver services rather than serving as a standalone AI assistant, unlike Google's AI Mode.
Kim Kwang-hyun, Naver’s chief data and content officer, said AI Tab showcases Naver’s unique ecosystem, data infrastructure, and AI technology, with tens of millions of users able to access it directly from the search box, signaling expansion from search to execution.
By year’s end, AI Tab will be installed in the Wale Browser to broaden its presence across the web environment.
Starting in July, users can continue searches by entering AI Tab in the chat window at the bottom of the AI briefing, enabling a seamless flow from information to action.
The service will be accessible to all users via the AI Tab button in Naver’s mobile and PC search windows, with about 50 million daily visitors expected to engage.
Naver launched AI Tab, an AI-powered conversational search service, on June 26 to become the centerpiece of its ecosystem and drive engagement across search, shopping, places, and reservations.
Naver plans to expand AI Tab later this year with personalized real estate recommendations based on budgets and locations, and to introduce a health agent that analyzes uploaded medical checkup reports to suggest lifestyle and health plans.
In the second half of the year, features will include customized real estate recommendations tailored to budget and region, plus a health agent function offering lifestyle and healthcare tips after health exam uploads.
Hands-on testing showed AI Tab has limitations in complex writing, long-document analysis, and deep reasoning, but provides a more convenient experience for restaurant recommendations, product discovery, and data retrieval from Naver.
AI Tab, beta-tested with Naver Plus members in April, aims to guide users toward real-world actions, showing high click-through rates on product and place cards during beta.
The official launch includes integration with next-generation Product Native Giant Language Model optimized for execution-oriented interactive search, strengthening AI Tab’s agent capabilities.
