The National Health Authority wrapped up a two-day Chintan Shivir on AB PM-JAY and the ABDM to chart digital health adoption, financial sustainability, and evidence-based policymaking for India’s next phase of health sector reforms.

Participants from the Centre, states/UTs, and development partners focused on financial sustainability, strengthening public health institutions, health analytics, and accelerating digital transformation across the healthcare ecosystem.

The closing session saw renewed commitments to advance AB PM-JAY and ABDM through collaborative governance, digital innovation, knowledge sharing, and sustainable funding to deliver an inclusive, affordable, and digitally enabled health system.

The Health Analytics and AI Unit showcased tools for beneficiary portability, district-level access, hospital activity, and utilization to support evidence-based planning and service delivery improvements.

Officials highlighted that AB PM-JAY has facilitated cashless treatment worth over ₹1.91 lakh crore across more than 37,000 empanelled hospitals, with ABHA numbers surpassing 94 crore and over 100 crore digital health records linked under ABDM.

Discussions included stronger fraud detection via the National Anti-Fraud Unit, upgrades to the Auto-Adjudication Engine, planned pre-authorisation for certain procedures, and enhanced digital health interoperability through NHCX to integrate AB PM-JAY with other schemes.
