MoonPay has launched PayBox, a payment vault embedded in AI conversations that lets ChatGPT and Claude users authorize AI-enabled crypto purchases, token swaps, and cross-chain transfers while keeping user funds under their control.

PayBox uses MPC-split wallet keys in hardware-isolated enclaves with secure enclaves and TEEs, and routes card payments through Visa’s protocol without exposing raw card data, with passkey-based, single-use approvals to prevent replay.

Two permission modes are available: Always Ask, which requires a passkey approval for each transaction, and Autonomous, where AI executes transactions within user-defined limits.

Market outlook notes limited near-term impact on Solana’s price, with some indicators suggesting a $90 target by early August is unlikely in the near term.

The Block includes standard disclosures about its independence and financial disclosures in the coverage.

The PayBox launch is positioned as a notable development for Solana at its inception, potentially expanding adoption and on-chain activity.

Current integrations include restaurant reservations, shopping, and flight bookings, with x402 governed by the Linux Foundation and supported by AWS, Cloudflare, Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Shopify, and Anthropic.

PayBox can perform everyday tasks beyond crypto trading, including travel bookings, restaurant reservations, and online shopping, all initiated via plain-language prompts.

Chainalysis data shows agentic payments on Coinbase’s Base network exceeding 100 million transactions in about nine months, with the x402 dashboard reporting over 12.7 million transactions in the last 30 days across participating services.
