Odyssey Logistics is piloting autonomous AI engineering with Devin through Cognizant and Cognition to modernize OdysseyONE, moving from legacy forms to a cloud-native platform that consolidates order intake and full shipment lifecycle across its network.

The modernization aims to consolidate Odyssey’s multimodal freight network onto OdysseyONE, enabling a unified workflow for order intake, execution, and lifecycle management.

The project has already produced production results: autonomous AI engineering achieved a 37% net cost saving within a fixed budget and moved into production.

The effort reframed a complex legacy workflow into scalable, maintainable software without a full rewrite, delivering about a one-third throughput increase within a fixed budget and tight timeline.

Leadership emphasizes that autonomous AI engineering can accelerate modernization while preserving governance and accountability, with plans to expand offerings into security remediation, AI assurance, observability-driven maintenance, legacy modernization, and greenfield development.

The collaboration began in 2024, expanded in January 2026, and now includes modernization and upgrade services, quality engineering with Devin-generated automatic test creation, and a Frontier AI Cyber Defense capability.

Cognition and Cognizant offer an expanded suite of services that includes modernization, upgrade, automated test generation through Devin, and Frontier AI Cyber Defense.

The program addresses a gap between known modernization work and limited engineering capacity, building a scalable path forward.

A seven-person Cognizant team using Devin rebuilt legacy Microsoft Access and VBA forms into cloud-native applications, including test generation, deployment pipelines, and documentation, with every change reviewed by a Cognizant lead or architect before merging.

Odyssey’s conversion involved converting legacy forms into cloud-native apps with automated tests, deployment pipelines, and thorough documentation, all changes reviewed by Cognizant leadership before integration.

The Devin-driven effort ensured that seven Cognizant engineers provided end-to-end modernization with strict pre-merge reviews by technical leadership.

Odyssey’s CIO/CDO Maneet Singh underscored that AI-driven modernization delivers faster, governed outcomes and translates legacy rebuilds into measurable business capability.
