Puzzling Places Expands to PC VR and 2D, Launching on Steam with Enhanced Features
April 29, 2025
Indie game Puzzling Places, known for its calming jigsaw puzzles, is set to debut on PC VR in 2025, with a 2D version also planned for early 2026.
Currently, Puzzling Places is available on various platforms, including Meta Quest, Pico, PlayStation VR 2, and Apple Vision Pro, and has attracted over 400,000 VR players since its launch.
Originally released in 2021, the game has received positive reviews and was previously available only on Quest.
The upcoming PC VR version will be available on Steam and will feature a 2D version optimized for the Steam Deck, allowing for flexible gaming experiences.
Players will benefit from cross-device support, enabling them to transfer puzzle progress between desktop, Steam Deck, and VR headsets.
Two gameplay modes will be introduced in the Steam version: Tabletop mode for detailed play and Snack mode for shorter puzzle sessions.
Puzzle sizes vary from 25 to 1,000 pieces, catering to different player preferences and allowing for both quick and lengthy gaming sessions.
Remastered versions of the most popular puzzles will include new animations, effects, and music tracks, enhancing the gameplay experience.
The game offers a relaxing experience with no timers, ambient music, and brain-teasers that require focus.
Realities.io, the studio behind the game, announced the inclusion of both VR and flatscreen modes for the PC version.
Founded in 2016, Realities.io specializes in VR photogrammetry, creating digital replicas of real-world locations and developed the concept for Puzzling Places during the COVID pandemic.
Puzzling Places features over 30 detailed dioramas created from 3D photogrammetry scans of real-world locations, with puzzles ranging in difficulty.
