Xpeng and Huawei have collaborated to create an innovative 87-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD) that spans the entire windshield of a vehicle.

Claiming to be the first in the industry to offer such a large AR-HUD, Xpeng plans to debut this technology in their upcoming G7 SUV.

This advanced system not only enhances the driving experience but also assists with self-parking maneuvers and highlights corners in low visibility conditions to prevent accidents.

According to Chen Yonghai, vice president of Xiaopeng Automobile, Xpeng aims to build driver trust in autonomous driving features by clearly displaying when the car will overtake and the path it will take.

To further enhance safety awareness, a graphical 'X' appears on the display if the driver is going the wrong way.

Xpeng has tackled technical challenges such as picture fluttering and distortion by utilizing advanced algorithms to optimize brightness and contrast in various lighting conditions.

The introduction of this cutting-edge technology raises questions about consumer interest in Xpeng vehicles and their innovative features.

While Xpeng claims its AR-HUD is unique, similar concepts have been explored by other manufacturers like Jaguar Land Rover and BMW, which showcased a wide HUD at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show.
