June 14, 2025
A new cultural tour titled 'Verona Time Machine - The Capitolium in Augmented Reality' has been launched, allowing visitors to rediscover Roman Verona through innovative Augmented Reality technology.
The tour begins at Piazza delle Erbe, the former Roman forum, and concludes at Corte Sgarzerie, which features excavations of the Roman Cryptoporticus.
Covering seven significant sites in Verona's historic center, the tour follows the ancient Roman road system and lasts approximately 90 minutes.
Participants will explore key historical locations, including the temple dedicated to Minerva, Jupiter, and Juno, as well as the ancient decumanus maximus.
The Capitolium, which served as Roman Verona's main temple, is a highlight of the tour, with its foundations located beneath Palazzo Maffei.
Guided by specialized archaeologists, participants will witness digital reconstructions of historical buildings and monuments that are no longer visible today.
The tour emphasizes a blend of technology and personal interaction, with guides customizing content based on visitor preferences and needs.
Conceived by the Archeonaute Association of Verona in collaboration with ARtGlass, the tour includes immersive experiences using state-of-the-art smartglasses.
The experience is available in both Italian and English, costs 20 euros per person, and requires a reservation.
This project collaborates with other initiatives supported by PNRR, facilitating co-marketing and knowledge exchange among cultural sites in the region.
Co-funded by the Next Generation EU program under PNRR Mission 1, the project aims to enhance the city's archaeological and historical heritage.
