On July 15, 2025, UK-based company Freeaim launched its innovative VR Shoes through a Kickstarter campaign, aiming to revolutionize virtual reality experiences.

These VR Shoes were showcased at AWE USA 2025 and are designed to enhance immersion and minimize motion sickness by enabling natural walking in virtual environments without relying on joysticks or teleportation.

The VR Shoes utilize motorized components and proprietary software to simulate walking while users remain stationary, providing an alternative to costly VR treadmills and omnidirectional platforms.

The launch includes two new support frame options: the Swivel Frame for traditional treadmill users and the Hex Frame for those seeking greater freedom of movement.

Hundreds of users have tested the technology, which addresses challenges related to limited physical space and user comfort during immersive VR sessions.

The Kickstarter campaign aims to scale manufacturing and gauge market demand for this powered VR locomotion technology.

During the campaign, two models are available at discounted prices for the first 48 hours: the VR Shoes Light at GBP 799 (about USD 1,079) and the VR Shoes Advanced at GBP 1,049 (about USD 1,399).

Shipping is expected to begin in late 2025 or early 2026, with availability planned for multiple countries including the USA, Canada, EU, UK, and Australia.
