Revolutionary VR Shoes Surpass Funding on Kickstarter, Promising Immersive Gaming for All
July 16, 2025
A UK-based startup, Freeaim, has launched a Kickstarter campaign for its innovative motorized VR Shoes, which aim to enhance virtual reality experiences by allowing natural walking through two independent treadmills for each foot.
Freeaim offers two models: the VR Shoes Light, priced at about $1,079, and the VR Shoes Advanced, starting at roughly $1,400, both designed to be more affordable and space-efficient alternatives to traditional VR treadmills.
The VR Shoes Advanced features rotating wheel modules to prevent user drift and can operate in small spaces as tiny as 1.5 by 1.5 meters, while the VR Shoes Light requires an external support frame for use.
Supported games include popular titles like VR Chat and Walking Dead Saints and Sinners on the Quest platform, with plans to test additional titles across various VR headsets.
Designed as a compact and cost-effective alternative to bulky enterprise VR treadmills, the VR Shoes aim to make immersive virtual experiences more accessible for consumers.
The campaign, which has already surpassed its funding goal of approximately $200,000, is aiming for a total of around $236,000 with nearly a month left, and is targeting a delivery date of February 2026.
Stretch goals for the Kickstarter include adding a free carrying bag at $250,000 and discounted shipping fees if funding reaches $3 million.
