The allegations against Wick prompted scrutiny of Nine's handling of historical complaints, resulting in significant leadership changes, including the departures of chair Peter Costello and former CEO Mike Sneesby.

In October 2023, Airlie Walsh engaged lawyers to address her grievances, motivated by the support of other women who came forward, which led Nine Entertainment to initiate a cultural review.

Following the review, several senior executives left Nine, and former Queensland News boss Amanda Paterson filed a claim with the Fair Work Commission after her dismissal in late 2024.

Despite her departure from Nine not aligning with her expectations, Walsh expressed gratitude towards her colleagues and relief that the legal process had concluded.

Her complaint, filed in January 2024, marked the first allegations of misconduct against Darren Wick, Nine's former director of news and current affairs, who subsequently left the company amid multiple complaints.

Walsh, who had been with Nine for 16 years, filed her case in the Federal Court, alleging mistreatment during pregnancy and harassment.

Ultimately, Walsh reached a confidential settlement in her sexual discrimination case against Nine, expressing relief and receiving support from her colleagues.

Josh Bornstein, Walsh's lawyer, noted that her legal actions inspired other women and emphasized the need for the news media to improve its practices, suggesting that the settlement could catalyze change.

In a separate incident, Nine is currently investigating sports presenter Alex Cullen for allegedly accepting a $50,000 cash prize from billionaire Adrian Portelli for promoting a nickname on air.
