Engineering Student's Tragic Death: Driver Faces Over a Dozen Serious Charges
April 23, 2025
The tragic incident began when Bradley Donald Towle, 41, allegedly lost control of a red Porsche Macan, crashing into a Nissan Micra and resulting in the death of 22-year-old Jocelyn Grace Mollee, a passenger in the vehicle.
Jocelyn Mollee was a dedicated fourth-year chemical engineering student at the University of Queensland, just days away from completing her degree, which has led to an outpouring of tributes from the community.
Her mother, Amanda Chippendale, expressed profound grief, stating, 'My heart is shattered. We’re broken into a million pieces,' after sharing that she last spoke to her daughter on Easter Sunday.
Towle was arrested near Landsborough at approximately 12:50 PM on the same day of the incident, with police capturing the arrest on body-worn camera footage, which revealed a loaded shotgun found in his vehicle.
Following the crash, Towle allegedly fled the scene armed with the shotgun, shooting a 62-year-old man who attempted to assist and subsequently threatening a 16-year-old girl and her parents in another vehicle.
Towle is facing over a dozen serious charges, including armed robbery, dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, and multiple drug and weapons offences.
Towle's lawyer, Ben Rynderman, emphasized the seriousness of the case, indicating that a detailed brief of evidence will be compiled by the police.
Towle was injured in the crash and initially remained in the hospital under police guard; he has since returned to custody and did not appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on April 23, 2025.
His next court appearance is scheduled for June 30, 2025, and there was no application for bail during the recent court session.
