Childcare Worker Charged with Over 70 Child Abuse Counts, Families Urged for Disease Testing
July 1, 2025
Joshua Brown, a childcare worker from Point Cook, has been charged with over 70 counts of child sexual abuse involving eight children, aged between five months and two years, at the Creative Garden Early Learning Centre.
The alleged incidents took place between April 2022 and January 2023, and Brown has been in custody since his arrest on May 12, 2025.
His charges include serious offenses such as sexual penetration of a child under 12 and sexual assault of a child under 16.
Authorities believe that all alleged offenses occurred within Victoria, and there is currently no evidence implicating other staff members at the childcare centers.
Brown's employment history spans 20 different childcare centers from January 2017 to May 2025, with investigations also underway regarding allegations at a second center in Essendon.
The Victorian Department of Health and Victoria Police are proactively reaching out to families potentially impacted by these allegations, advising 1,200 children to undergo testing for treatable infectious diseases.
In response to the situation, various departments and organizations are collaborating to provide support and welfare services to the families of the alleged victims.
Families affected by the allegations may be eligible for a $5,000 payment to assist with alternative childcare arrangements and other practical needs.
Support services, including 1800 RESPECT, Lifeline, and Kids Helpline, are available for those affected by the case.
Parents who suspect inappropriate behavior or have additional information are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
Parents are reassured that unless they have been directly contacted by Victoria Police, there is no evidence to suggest their child has been affected by Brown's actions.
Brown is scheduled to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on September 15, 2025.
