Most households have already received census materials by mail with instructions to complete online using a unique census number or to return a hard copy form, with more details at info.census.abs.gov.au.

Industry chief Luke Coleman notes scammers exploit the census’s legitimacy, using calls, messages, or door-knocking to target people.

Authorities stress the census will not require sharing financial details, remote PC access, or in-home visits, and ABS representatives will not request these actions.
