A citizen collective called Respect Brussels has issued an official warning to Brussels deputies due to a political deadlock exceeding 460 days, which has severely impacted essential services and heightened social issues.

The collective insists on establishing an emergency budget before October 10, 2025, to prevent further deterioration of the region's financial stability.

They are also calling for reforms to enable Brussels to be governable through cooperation agreements with the federal government and other regions, aiming to reform rules and funding for a more stable and democratic region.

Respect Brussels demands the launch of a Brussels conclave before September 26, 2025, to negotiate continuously until a government supported by both Dutch-speaking and French-speaking communities is formed, as required by law.

The group emphasizes the urgent need for Brussels to adopt comprehensive policies on housing, employment, mobility, climate, security, social cohesion, and poverty reduction.

Respect Brussels has previously organized two actions: 89 minutes of silence on March 23 and a citizen picnic on June 9, both held on the stock exchange square.

Formed at the beginning of 2025, Respect Brussels is an independent citizen initiative reacting to the ongoing political crisis.

The ongoing deadlock has led to paralyzed social services, rising poverty, increased street violence, dysfunctional police services, and blocked administrative functions.
