The Belgian king called on all parties to act responsibly and bridge differences to establish a clear budget path for the coming years.

Delayed measures include pension reforms and the introduction of a new capital gains tax.

Prime Minister De Wever and senior ministers agreed that the budget must be finalized by late December, aligning with Christmas.

If Parliament does not approve next year’s budget in time, Belgium would temporarily operate on a one-twelfth monthly budget for early 2026.

Prime Minister De Wever told the king that while there are internal budget differences, coalition partners are committed to continuing work.
