Bitcoin Nears All-Time High at $108,698 Amid Predictions of Tightening Supply and Increased Demand
June 12, 2025
Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley predicts that Bitcoin sell pressure will diminish significantly once the price surpasses $130,000.
He believes that prices between $130,000 and $150,000 will discourage selling, as holders will prefer to keep their assets in anticipation of higher values.
Horsley anticipates a scarcity of Bitcoin if the price reaches this range, leading to potential borrowing from lenders as demand increases.
As of June 10, 2025, Bitcoin's price crossed $110,000, recovering from a dip below $100,000 the previous week, and is currently trading at $108,698, close to its all-time high of $111,970 reached on May 22, 2025.
Supporting this view, Galaxy Digital founder Mike Novogratz highlights strong institutional interest and rising demand for digital assets as factors that could drive Bitcoin into this price range.
He argues that this trend will contribute to rising prices due to a tightening supply of Bitcoin in the market.
Cointelegraph recently reported a decrease in available Bitcoin for OTC trades, indicating a tightening supply within the industry.
Despite increasing institutional interest, Horsley noted that some Bitcoin holders, particularly early investors, are still selling their assets.
Onchain analytics firm Glassnode has observed an increase in older investors selling Bitcoin after it crossed $100,000 on May 8, 2025.
Horsley suggested that market uncertainty around the $100,000 mark is causing some retail sellers to take profits.
His comments have sparked disagreement within the crypto community, with some arguing that there will always be sellers in the market.
A Bitwise report indicated that individuals had sold over 158,000 BTC, which institutional investors have been accumulating.
