Metaplanet Acquires 10,000 BTC, Surpasses Coinbase, Shares Surge 26%

In light of its recent success, Metaplanet has revised its Bitcoin acquisition targets, now aiming for 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 BTC by 2027.
The company plans to acquire an additional 21,000 Bitcoins by the end of 2026, aligning with the Bitcoin hard cap of 21 million coins.
The purchase was financed through a $210 million bond issuance to EVO Fund, utilizing zero-interest bonds that will mature in December 2025.
As of June 16, Metaplanet's BTC Yield stands at 87.2%, indicating the amount of Bitcoin held per fully diluted share.
On June 16, 2025, Metaplanet announced it has successfully acquired 1,112 Bitcoin for approximately $117.2 million, achieving its goal of holding 10,000 BTC six months ahead of schedule.

To support its ambitious growth plans, Metaplanet issued 21 million new share rights to EVO Fund in January and announced a $5.4 billion equity offering on June 6.
Additionally, Metaplanet issued 555 million MS warrants aimed at raising approximately 770.9 billion yen (around $5.34 billion) to fund further Bitcoin acquisitions.
Following the acquisition announcement, Metaplanet's shares surged 26%, rising from 1,504 JPY to 1,896 JPY, reflecting a 193% increase in shares over the past month.
