OrbitX Launches Self-Custodial Stablecoin Platform for Seamless Global Payments and Currency Conversion
September 8, 2026
OrbitX has built an end-to-end, self-custodial stablecoin platform that lets users Hold multi‑currency virtual accounts with self‑custodial wallets, Spend with Visa cards at over 15 million merchants, Send real‑time international payouts to 80+ countries, and Scan and Pay through stablecoin‑to‑local currency conversions at point‑of‑sale.
The OrbitX founder stresses turning digital dollar holdings into active local currency exchange, boosting financial velocity and cutting costs for startups and professionals in emerging markets.
The new feature enables stablecoin spending at street vendors, transit systems, pharmacies, and retailers without a local bank account or traditional FX venues, reducing friction in places where digital dollars are hard to spend domestically.
OrbitX supports major fiat currencies (USD, EUR, GBP, AED, NGN, BRL, MXN, and more) and aims to lower foreign‑exchange markups for USD‑denominated expenses by bypassing traditional correspondent banking through stablecoin rails.
QR payment functionality converts stablecoin balances into local currency at the point of sale via QR scans, first rolling out in Vietnam and the Philippines with plans to expand to additional markets soon.
QR payments are live in Vietnam and the Philippines, onboarding for individuals is immediate while corporate onboarding takes 3–4 days; API docs and platform access are available at orbitxpay.com.
