Fnality Expands with New Leadership, Advances Euro & US Payment Systems
September 10, 2026
Fnality appointed former Bank of England deputy governor Jon Cunliffe to chair its UK board as the company advances its euro and US dollar payment systems.
Fnality’s existing sterling payment system, launched in 2023 and regulated by the Bank of England, settles obligations using central bank money balances.
Fnality has set up a German subsidiary in Eschborn to develop its euro system and established Fnality Bank U.S. in Stamford, Connecticut to work on a dollar system and engage with US regulators.
Cunliffe underscored the need for settlement in the safest assets amid rising tokenisation for financial stability.
Jochen Metzger, formerly Deutsche Bundesbank’s director general for payments and settlement systems, joined Fnality’s European supervisory board and is expected to chair it, with Ron Berndsen of the Dutch central bank also joining.
Its blockchain settlement infrastructure is designed to support tokenized asset markets and banks’ use of stablecoins and tokenized deposits.
Fnality raised 136 million dollars in a Series C in September 2025, with investors including Temasek, Euroclear and Goldman Sachs.
