The US Department of Energy is investing $15 million in university-based centers to bolster energy sector cybersecurity.

Six universities will develop region-specific cybersecurity solutions for challenges like cyberattacks on distributed energy resources and grid resilience.

These centers will partner with industry and DOE National Labs for research, training, and cybersecurity education for energy professionals.

The initiative is part of a wider campaign, with the DOE having previously invested $145 million in cybersecurity and resilience research.
