Over 90 Malicious Android Apps Exposed on Google Play, 5.5 Million Users at Risk
May 29, 2024
Cloud security company Zscaler has uncovered over 90 malicious Android apps on Google Play.
These malicious apps have a total of 5.5 million installations.
Among these apps is the Anatsa banking trojan, also known as TeaBot.
Anatsa poses a significant threat by disguising malicious code as legitimate app updates.
Once installed, Anatsa targets financial institutions, particularly in the UK, to steal sensitive login information.
Zscaler has informed Google about these malicious apps, leading to their removal from the app store.
Users are urged to exercise caution when downloading apps and review permissions to mitigate risks.
