Disney Announces Star-Studded Live-Action 'Moana' Remake for 2026, Featuring Dwayne Johnson as Maui

Disney has confirmed a live-action remake of 'Moana' with Catherine Laga‘aia as the lead and Dwayne Johnson reprising his role as Maui.
The film is set to be released in theaters on July 10, 2026.
The cast also includes Kiwi actors John Tui, Frankie Adams, and Rena Owen.
Auli‘i Cravalho will not star in the remake but will voice Moana in the sequel.
The remake is directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Johnson, Cravalho, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia.
The movie aims to showcase Pacific Island cultures and traditions.
The original 'Moana' film is available on Disney+.
A sequel is planned for release in November 2024.
Disney is expanding the 'Moana' universe through partnerships with Amazon Music Unlimited and Marquee TV streaming service.
